The Barre Fitness Alliance Premier Membership recognizes barre instructors who meet the BFA standard for safe, effective, and professional teaching.

There are two ways to earn Premier Membership:

  • Complete training with a BFA Education Partner
    OR

  • Demonstrate equivalent knowledge and teaching ability through the Path to Premier

Different paths. Same standard.

The Path to Premier is designed for experienced instructors who can demonstrate the ability to deliver the same quality barre experience expected of instructors trained through BFA Education Partners.

This is a pathway for qualified instructors.
Not a shortcut around standards.

Your Path to Premier

1. Prepare

Use your previous training, BFA resources, and recommended texts to build confidence and competency.

Optional coaching with a BFA Master Trainer available ($75).

2. Written Exam

110 questions covering:

  • Anatomy

  • Exercise Science

  • Programming

  • Musicality

  • Technique

  • Ethics

  • Barre history and methodology

3. Practical Exam

Teach a 45–60 minute full-body barre class (video or live evaluation).

Evaluated on:

  • Demonstration

  • Terminology

  • Musicality

  • Corrections

  • Variations

  • Class balance

  • Written Exam

  • First year of Premier Membership upon passing

New members may apply their $65 membership toward the exam fee.

Optional:

  • Coaching Session — $75

  • Live/Livestream Evaluation — $75
